Chico Grange - House Rules

Violation of Grange House Rules may result in the forfeiture of some or all of renter’s security/cleaning deposit.   If the number of persons attending an event exceeds the contracted number, the security deposit will be forfeited.

1.   Renters are responsible for the behavior of their guests.  Renters and his/her guests may not wander onto adjacent private property, nor disturb neighbors’ privacy.

2.   Parking is allowed in front of the Grange.  Parallel parking only is allowed in the public right of way on the edge of the orchards across Nord Avenue.  Vehicles must be pulled completely off the pavement, but kept out of the trees.  Please respect our neighbors.  Renters are responsible for notifying their guests about the parking options.  For large events, renters are asked to please encourage their guests to carpool or ride bikes.

3.   If 50 or more cars are anticipated at an event, the renter must provide responsible parking attendants.  The Grange has four vests that can be utilized for this purpose (located in the custodial closet).

4. Due to the darkness of the locale of the Grange, renters are encouraged to tell their guests to bring flashlights or head lamps.

5.   Children shall be under adult supervision at all times.  No playing allowed in adjacent orchards or near the roadways.

6.   With the exception of guide dogs, animals are not permitted inside the building.

7.   Alterations to the building or fixtures are not permitted.  No pins, tacks, or nails shall be placed in the walls or floors.  Only blue painters tape.

8.   Excessive noise shall be confined to the inside of the building and shall be held to a level that does not disturb the neighbors.

9.   Smoking is not allowed inside the building.  Smoking is limited to designated smoking areas only.   No open flames allowed (e.g., candles).

10.     All spills onto any floors will be cleaned up immediately (with water only).

11.   Illegal activities are prohibited on the premises.  Renter shall abide by all local ordinances and state/federal statutes.

12.     The event must end and guests depart no later than 11 pm, though cleaning crews may remain until rooms are cleaned and the building is secured.

13.     If it is determined, that contrary to this agreement, alcohol was consumed on the premises or adjacent properties during an event, the security/cleaning deposit will be forfeited.

14.     When an event is open to the public and a charge or donation is being collected or alcohol is being served, the renter must provide security personnel to ensure guests’ compliance with the Grange parking protocol (parking map will be provided), and to monitor the premises, adjacent streets and orchards to ensure appropriate behavior by the attendees.  “Open to the public” will be determined by advertising of the event in the media or Facebook.  The Grange Rental Agent will determine if paid security/parking attendants will be required.  Documentation will be needed.

CRITERIA FOR DETERMINING A GRANGE-SPONSORED EVENT
A.  In order for an event to be considered as a “Grange-sponsored” event and the respective group to receive a full donation of the rental fee, it will be necessary for the pending event to be consistent with all three of the components of the Grange mission statement.

This means the event supports and/or promotes:
    1) healthy local agriculture,
      2) environmental stewardship, and
    3) a vibrant community.

B.  In order for an event to be considered as a “Grange-sponsored” event and the respective group to receive a partial donation of the rental fee, it will be necessary for the pending event to be consistent with at least two of the components of the Grange mission statement.  The amount to be donated back will be a recommendation put forth by the Events Committee for a vote by the membership at a monthly meeting.

C. There may be an exception to the policy, where a pending event is determined to be vitally important for the exposure of the Grange within the community and a full or partial donation is determined to be appropriate in promoting the interests of the Grange. The amount to be donated back to the respective group will be a recommendation put forth by the Events Committee for a vote by the membership at a monthly meeting.

NOTE:  This policy does not impact the active Grange member discount of 25% for one’s own personal events.  Until the Events Committee assumes the responsibilities listed within this policy, the Executive Committee will have the authority to make recommendations regarding donations of rental fees for a vote by the members.
